The selection of teams is always an interesting process. The protocol below should give a clear outline of how the East Junior County teams come to be selected.

The protocol includes:

Ratings will be used to deem  the strongest players over a prolonged period. The highest (or subsequent highest) rated players will selected depending on team size.

Rankings will use to deem the form players of that year for selection, with the highest player or players being selected depending on team size.

For larger teams (i.e. 3 players and above) we have a Wild Card, this is the choice of the team captains. The basis of this decision may be from three key areas:  form player of the moment, the next highest rated player or ranked player. This allows the captians to put forward the best TEAM for the upcomming match.

Below is an outline of team selection for different team sizes (official LTA county ratings and rankings are taken at time of selection ):

Team of 2 - 1st player will be highest rated. 2nd player highest ranked (if same player, then 2nd highest ranked player is chosen). 

Team of 3 - 1st player will be highest rated. 2nd player highest ranked (if same player, then 2nd highest ranked player is chosen). 3rd player is wild card.

Team of 4 - 1st & 2nd players will be highest rated. 3rd player highest ranked (if same players then subsequent players are chosen). 4th player is a wild card.

Team of 5 - 1st & 2nd players will be highest rated. 3rd & 4th players highest ranked (if same players then subsequent players are chosen). 5th player is a wild card.

Team of 6 - 1st,2nd & 3rd players will be highest rated. 4th & 5th players highest ranked (if same players then subsequent players are chosen). 6th player is a wild card.

Team of 7 - 1st,2nd & 3rd players will be highest rated. 4th, 5th & 6th  players highest ranked (if same players then subsequent players are chosen). 7th player is a wild card.

Team of 8 - 1st,2nd, 3rd & 4th players will be highest rated. 5th, 6th & 7th  players highest ranked (if same players then subsequent players are chosen). 8th player is a wild card.
